Volunteering

Henry’s Haven is run entirely by volunteers. We can’t do our work without people like you, who are willing to donate their time and energy to helping cats.

If you are aged under 18, you will need to get permission from your parent or guardian to volunteer. All under 18’s must be supervised by an adult while carrying out volunteering work.

Some of the ways you can help include:

Offering a Foster Home: This means giving a cat or kitten a safe, loving home until they find a forever home. You may be asked to care for the cat for anything from a few days to a few months.

Trapping and Scanning: Volunteers who are able to come out at short notice to catch or trap a stray cat, or scan a cat for a microchip are essential! Having a car is helpful but not essential.

Transport: Because we cover a large area, we often need help in moving cats around. This might mean taking a cat to a new foster carer, or taking a cat to the vets. You’ll need access to a car of course!

Administration: We need volunteers to work behind the scenes, helping to keep our records up to date, update our website, and much more.

Finance and legal: If you are an Accountant or bookkeeper, or are a lawyer or paralegal, we’d love to hear from you.

Social Media and Marketing: Our social media is one of the main ways we find adopters for out cats, so this is an essential area of our work. If you would like to help us keep our social media accounts up to date, or are a marketing professional who can offer help, please get in touch.

Fundraising: The Rescue is funded entirely by donations from the public and from local businesses. We would especially like to hear from experienced fundraisers, but welcome volunteers with all levels of experience.

Something Else? If you have skills you think might be helpful please get in touch. We love to hear new ideas!
